God is a Personality, that means He has emotions and desires.
The Vedas do not give the complete understanding of the Absolute Truth. But when you study the Puranas, it becomes quite clear that the Supreme Personality of Godhead has red, hot eyes. It means that He can have sentiments, desires, emotions and everything else. There is a slight difference between us and the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He can boil the whole ocean with His red-hot glance.
Human emotions are the manifestation of our incompleteness, we manifest anger because we lack something. But the anger of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is motivated by love. Incompleteness creates envy. I am incomplete, and when I see somebody enjoying something that I cannot enjoy, it creates some bad feelings in my heart, it's the complete opposite of love.
Lord Krishna and Lord Ramacandra want to teach us how to love. They want to bring us to the elevated state of self-abnegation, when we do not remember about ourselves, and are ready to sacrifice anything for the pleasure of God. Lord Ramacandra is maryada-purusottama, He says discipline. You have to follow rules and regulations. Raganuga-bhakti is our goal, but before we have to purify our consciousness.
If somebody has love of God and we serve him, the reflection of his love will come into our heart. But before we will be able to serve in a proper way, we have to discipline ourselves. Before we will be able to serve completely selflessly, we have to experience the pleasure of service by following the rules and regulations.
Unfortunately we have lust. Before we get our lust under control, we will not be able to even appreciate the notion of service, how beautiful it is to serve somebody selflessly and then as a result experience an elevated feeling of love.
Lord Rama came to our life to help us get rid of our raksasa nature, our lust and anger, and achieve real love, which will become the main driving force of our life.
