Krishna consciousness is the science of God. It gives one a philosophical and metaphysical basis for understanding how reality works. However, we are presenting Krishna consciousness more and more as a religion rather than science. The difference between religion and science is the level of responsibility that the practitioner takes upon himself. In religion, one, as a member of it, is already saved, no matter what. Whereas, science explains how the process of liberation works, why we suffer and how the things that we do contribute to the process of liberation. In religion, the emphasis is on the result, whereas in science, the emphasis is on the process.

In Krishna consciousness, we don’t try to manipulate people by creating fear. Instead, we try to explain them how everything works and how certain things have a very strong influence on us and thus, are prohibited. We need to understand the scientific side of all these rules and regulations, rather than just becoming religious robots who follow something without understanding the meaning of their following.
