Religion is just a set of certain rules that help us to live nicely in this world. However, Sri Krishna does not give us the religion as such. Religion will become a futile enterprise if we do not understand the essence behind that religion. Srila Prabhupada says that Krishna consciousness is not a religion - it is the science of God.

Material relationships are not stable, but the soul is stable and therefore, deep inside we are longing for some unchanging happy situation. That is the nature of the soul and this explains why we always feel like strangers in this material world. We, spirit souls, are always connected with God. Therefore, there is a higher meaning in our life – to understand the science of God. Only then will we be happy. Real happiness is within us, it is the constitution of our soul, and not something external.
